Defending champions, Plateau United and table toppers, Akwa United recorded big wins in the Week 7 result of the ongoing Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) matches played over the weekend across the country.
While defending champions were pounding Sunshine Stars of Akure 5-0, Akwa United on the other hand whitewashed visiting Wikki Tourists 4-0 in Uyo to consolidate their top spot on the table with 16 points from seven matches.
Plateau’s striker Tosin Omoyele grabbing a brace in the encounter to emerge as the week’s highest goal scorer.
Kano Pillars are now third in the standings on 14 points after they broke the resistance of visiting MFM FC with Junior Lokosa scoring his seventh goal of the campaign.
Elsewhere, Heartland FC of Owerri recorded their first maximum points after a 1-0 win over struggling Kwara United at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri. Lobi Stars defeated FC Ifeanyi Ubah by a loan goal while the Oriental derby between Rangers International and Enyimba International.
There were also home wins for Katsina United, Heartland, Lobi Stars and Rivers United, while Enugu Rangers and Abia Warriors ended their Oriental derby in a barren draw. The game between El Kanemi Warriors and Enyimba International ended in a goalless draw also.
