From Steve Oko, Umuahia
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress ( APC) in Abia State, Ambassador Chibuike Ukauwa has advised Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu not to seek re- election in 2019 , alleging that the Governor has performed below expectations.
Ukauwa, who spoke to newsmen yesterday in Umuahia on the heels of the ongoing state inspection of projects by the Governor, expressed disappointment over the performances of Ikpeazu.
He said that Ikpeazu had dashed the hope of Abians and advised him not to present himself for re- election in 2019 or be humiliated at the polls.
“The governor should resign from office for failing to live up to expectations of Abia masses”, he added.
He dismissed the on- going project inspection in the state by the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Uche Secondus as a jamboree, stressing that the exercise was designed “to curry favour from the suffering Abia populace”.
Ukauwa, who urged Abians to begin to ask questions on what the Governor is doing with the State resources particularly expressed sadness that many streets in Umuahia, the state capital, are in darkness as the street lights are not functioning.
But in a swift reaction, the Publicity Secretary of PDP, Chief Don Ubani dismissed Ukauwa as a ranting political neophyte seeking relevance by attacking the person of the governor.
He said he would not be given the relevance he is looking for, describing him as ” a victim of dangerous hallucination who should have eyes to see but decided not to see.”
