Troops dislodge Boko Haram from enclave

Troops of Operation Lafiya Dole have dislodged members of the Boko Haram sect from one of their highly fortified hideouts at S-Shape part of Sambisa Forest in Borno State.

In a statement he issued on Tuesday, the Deputy Director, Public Relations, Theatre Command, Col. Onyema Nwachukwu, said that this is a continued clearance operation against all-known hideouts of Boko Haram terrorists within the large expanse of Sambisa Forest, as part of the ongoing Operation a�?Deep Punch II.

Nwachukwu said: “The area was also believed to be one of their prized locations.

“However, during a fierce offensive which was supported by Nigerian Air Force (NAF) against the terrorists on Monday, the resilient troops neutralised quite a number of Boko Haram terrorists and captured major armaments, including two Spartan Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs), one Canter truck and one Laptop computer belonging to the insurgents.

“The gallant troops also destroyed eight Gun trucks, several makeshift accommodation and tents,a�? while 19 women and 27 children were rescued from the enclave.
