Ahead of the 2019 general election, the Atikunation Independent Campaign Group (AICG), says it will soon embark on voter education in the South-East geo-political zone, to widen the support base of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
In a statement issued in Enugu after swearing in the new executives of the organisation, the group’s national executive officer, Hon Adidiya Azeez, appealed to the people of the zone to queue behind the presidential ambition of the former vice president.
He said the campaign will involve grassroots mobilisation of the electorate, and creating awareness of the need for voters to obtain their Permanent Voters’ Card (PVC).
He said: “The time has come for the incumbent administration at the center to be voted out, and this cannot be possible if you do not possess your PVC’s.”
He described Atiku as the highest employer of labour in the country, saying that unemployment will be a thing of the past if he becomes president in 2019.”
Earlier in his address, the Director General of the group, Hon Fatee Mohammed, said that like-minded Nigerians have agreed to save the country from the present state of insecurity and hunger ravaging the land.
Mohammed who was represented at the occasion by the group’s National Secretary, Mrs Vera Aigbonoga, added that the former vice president has the capacity to re-build the country’s battered economy, and put the nation on the path of progress and development.
