Akwa Ibom State Government has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with two different companies to promote waste to wealth.
The State Commissioner of Environment and Natural Resource, Dr. Iniobong Essien told The AUTHORITY in Kaduna that the government is determined to make the state the cleanest in the country.
He said that the government intend to convert waste to energy, organic fertilizer and other by-products.
He traced the increase in waste generation in the state to the developmental strides of Governor Emmanuel Udom.
a?aThe ambiance of the state is beginning to attract investors, including those in diaspora. This has translated into more waste generated.
a?aSo we donat want to be overtaken by this. Waste recycling is a major area we are concerned with.
