The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Youth Vanguard on Tuesday revealed that it has concluded arrangement to organise a ten million man march nationwide to protest against the mindless killings in the country and other security challenges.

It also warned President Muhammadu Buhari-led All Progressives Congress (APC) government to leave the former First Lady, Patience Jonathan alone.

The PDP group frowned against the selective anti-corruption fight by the ruling APC, calling on the party to have a reckoning with its conscience.

Speaking at the PDP National Secretariat, the Coordinator of PDP Youth Vanguard, Ibrahim Bala Aboki, condemned the way the APC government is handling the trial of PDP’s immediate past National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh.

He said: “The continuous persecution and harassment of the former President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, and his family by President Buhari is most regrettable and unfortunate. Every right thinking Nigerian and members of the international community have applauded the modest disposition of the former President for conceding defeat to the APC even before the last count of the election results.

“Obviously, this act of patriotism and nationalism, instead of being encouraged, has been destroyed with all the negative actions of the APC against the former first family in the last three years.

“Since the dawn of the fourth republic in 1999, Nigeria under the PDP has experienced transfer of power from one civilian administration to another till we handed over peacefully to the APC in 2015, which is the first since independence in 1960. We are shocked that President Buhari and his Party are busy persecuting the former first lady, Mrs. Patience Jonathan with no just course.

“As if that is (sic) not enough, the current APC-led government that came to power on the mantra of fighting corruption but has failed to do so in recent times, is working in cohorts with some agencies of government to further humiliate our members as seen in the case of the former National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Olisa Metuh.

“We take serious exception to the recent act of shame and unprofessional conduct by Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court, when he threw caution to the wind and forcefully compelled Metuh to appear in Court despite his serious health challenges. This is completely unacceptable and must be condemned by all lovers of democracy.

“The PDP National Youth Vanguard in collaboration with all PDP-friendly NGOs and Civil Society Organizations have scheduled to hold a 10 million man march to protest the lackadaisical attitude of the APC government to the killings across the country, nepotism, hunger and starvation, resurgence of long queues in our filling stations and the obvious persecution of opposition leaders/political parties by the APC government in the name of fighting corruption.”It said.
