The President of the Nnewi branch of Imo General Assembly, Chief Chinedu Igwe has urged the Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha not to impose his son in-law on the people in the next year governorship election of the state.
Chief Igwe who was speaking with journalists in his office yesterday said that the incumbent Imo State governor will only be reducing the All Progressives Congress (APC) to a family business should he fail to heed the warning.
He pointed out that the governor haven done so badly in office has no moral right to impose anybody on the state as the people are now ready to critically scrutinise those jostling for the Imo plum job to avoid the mistakes of the past.
“If the governor’s son in-law, Uche Nwosu must go for elective position in our dear state, he should start with Local Government chairmanship position or member of the state House of Assembly, after which he must have learnt the arts and science of governance. We cannot allow anybody to come and experiment with our state again,” he said
The president of Imo General Assembly noted that whoever that must become the next governor of the state must come from Owerri senatorial zone which has never produced the governor before in spirit of equity and fairness.
“We cannot be crying of national imagination when there is perceived marginalisation of Owerri people in Imo State; the truth is that the zone has a lot of eminently qualified individuals who can give the state a five star governance and turn things around for the better,” Chief Igwe noted.
He appealed to Imo people, at home and abroad to join hands together and put paid to the ambition of an individual to project their state before the whole world as a state that is lagging behind in quality human resources which according to him would be the case if the governor’s son in law is allowed to take over after his father in-law.
