Apparently basking in his team’s 1-0 away win over Heartland FC of Owerri in the Week11 fixture of the ongoing Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL), Team Manager of Lobi Stars of Makurdi, Mike Idoko said the club is planning to clinch a continental ticket this season.
Lobi Stars have shot to second place on the NPFL table on the strength of that victory in Owerri on Sunday, with 20 points from 11 matches, same as leaders Kano Pillars, who enjoy a better goals difference.
Idoko said Lobi Stars have been prepared for a great campaign.
“The team had a very good preparation before the league commenced,” Idoko told SCORENigeria
“I personally ensured that the boys were camped in Ijebu-ode far away from Benue State to avoid family and friends distraction which is a clear evidence of the team performance so far.
“We also featured in the pre-season Gold Cup in Ilorin which we used to asses our readiness for the league and to correct the lapses in our team.
“The team are so united together, we pray fervently as a team and I personally do commit the team in the hands of God, without God we cannot do anything, and his mercy and grace have taken us to second position on the table.
“We have won two away games which is good for our confidence and we have drawn matches away from home too.”
He added: “I am not surprised with the results because we have great players and mother luck too has been with us.
“I salute the boys for beating Heartland away from home, it is good and my target as the manager of the team is to get a continental ticket at the end of the season.”
