Group trains 200 in agribusiness to aid economic growth

A non-governmental organization, African Global Development for Positive Change Initiative (ADI) has said that it has trained over 200 youths across the country in agricultural related businesses to empower them as entrepreneurs, aid economic boost and increase revenue diversification.

Speaking during its annual general meeting in Abuja, the President of ADI, Prince Dan Mbachi, said its organization encourages youths to engage in Agro-Allied agriculture to enable them to be self-reliant and entrepreneurs.

Mbachi said the NGO is aimed at training of manpower for economic growth in agricultural development in Nigeria and sets up periodic seminars to educate the youths on the wealth of agriculture, he thus called on the government to support the youth in agro-allied businesses.

a�?We have trained about 200 youths in across the nation on agro business, in line with this we set up agro business seminar for youths for both indigenes and non-indigenes in Rivers tate to teach youth modern skills in agro business, as well as educate them on abundant wealth in agro business in order to make positive change to the society.

a�?Before now we abandoned agriculture for oil and today it has failed us, it has made us lazy, and stopped us from thinking ahead on how to get self-employed. Agriculture is a long lasting business government should come up with programmes that will empower the youthsa�?, he said.

Mbachi while appreciating the Ministry of Niger Delta, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development for aiding agricultural development in Nigeria called on Nigerians to aid boost the sector adding that the NGO is planning an agric summit in Niger Delta.
