Mohamed Salah insists old allegiances with Roma will not get in the way of his and Liverpool’s desire to reach the Champions League final.
Salah will be reunited with Roma, where he spent two seasons as a player before joining Liverpool in the summer,A�on TuesdayA�for the first leg of the semifinal tie.
The Egyptian remains in contact with a number of his former Roma teammates, while he is still highly thought of at the Stadio Olimpico.
“I played for Roma for two years, I had a great time with the club, with the fans, I fought for the club and now I have to play against them,” the forward told the Liverpool website. “We text each other, as players, every week -we’re still good friends.
“I’m very excited to go there and I love the fans, they love me. I hope we are going to win but also I wish them good luck.”
Liverpool are looking to reach their first Champions League finalA�in 11 yearsA�and secure the club’s sixth European Cup crown.
“It’s something huge if you win the Champions League for a club like Liverpool,” Salah added.
“It’s something different for us as players, for the city, for the fans, for everyone, I am sure we will fight for that 100 percent.”
