VVL announces 2018 maritime awards

Vital Values Limited (VVL), in collaboration with the Shipping Correspondents Association of Nigeria (SCAN), has announced an Annual Nigeria Maritime Awards (ANMA), with its maiden edition billed forA�July 27, 2018.

A�A�A�Primed to appreciate and celebrate individuals and agencies who set distinguished marks and shape the Nigerian maritime industry each year, the awards will recognise values and philosophies that positively impact the industry and the Nigerian economy generally.

A�A�A�First of its kind in the industry, the awards aim to beam the searchlight on the maritime industry, its agencies (private and public) and practitioners.

A�A�A�The theme for this yeara��s award is a�?ANMA 2018: Positioning the Maritime Sector for Challenges of Global Competitiveness,a�� selected based on the evolution of the Nigerian maritime sector since the ports concession in 2006.

A�A�A�The organisers noted that, a�?with about 853-kilometer coastline, an Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of approximately 315,950 square kilometers, including a vast network of navigable and potentially navigable rivers, lakes and creeks which traverse over 3000 kilometers of inland waterways, much credence should be paid to individuals and agencies managing these enormous and vast national resources.a�?
