The Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), AITas Energy Correspondent, Hauwa Kassim and several other individuals and institutions have been honoured by the Nigerian Association for Energy Economics (NAEE).
The award ceremony was part of activities in the just concluded 11th NAEE/IAEE Annual International Conference in Abuja.
Others honoured include the PTDF Executive Secretary, Dr. Bello Gusau; former Director of Department of PetroleumAResources (DPR), Mr. Osten
Olorunsola and the Minister of State Petroleum Resources, Dr Ibe Kachikwu.
Other institutions honoured include Centre for Petroleum, Energy, Economics and Law, University of Ibadan and the
Emerald Energy Institute, University of Port Harcourt.
Presenting the Presidential Awards to the recipients, NAEE President, Professor Wumi Iledare said the awards were to recognize the outstanding contributions
of the winners to the growth of NAEE in the country.
Speaking on the award, Mrs. Kassim thanked the NAEE leadership for honouring her and for recognizing the enormous contributions journalists make to the growth of the society. SheAsaid: a?I feel truly honoured.
Even though what I was getting from a lot of people was a?Hauwa, it is an award well deserveda, I don’t feel that way. This, I say, not because I do not appreciate the
recognition but mostly because I was just being me offering service to a cause I believe in. So the award definitely feels like a bonus giving to you for carrying
out service passionately for a cause you believe in.
a?And what is this cause you might ask? NAEE as an association has got so much to offer to the country’s energy industry.
a?This is an association made up of not only great energy engineers and technicians, but also renowned academicians, seasoned energy industry players, specialised energy lawyers,
journalists, economists to mention but a few.
a?All converging from time to time under one roof to take up contemporary energy issues from all perspective and recommend solutionsa?.
She explained that as someone whose academic discipline cuts across mass communication and oil and gas management, a?I know that if the ideas thrown around during such NAEE’s conferences are borrowed by the country’s energy industry managers, a
chunk of the problems in the industry will be solveda?.
