In its efforts to boost learning and teaching, Brooks Consolidated Investment Limited (BCIL) has donated assorted books worth N2.5 million to Plateau State University (PLASU), Bokkos.
Presenting the books to PLASU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Yohanna Izam, BCIL Managing Director, Sunday Jesmiel, said the gesture was part of the company’s effort to uplift the standard of education.
Jesmiel said that BCL has made it part of its corporate social responsibility to provide books to aid teaching and learning.
“Today’s donation of 100 different titles is my company’s token contribution to the advancement of knowledge.
“It is also for the development of our next generation who deserve nothing less than excellent instructions and inspiration through books,” he said.
The Managing Director appreciated the VC for his prompt approval for the donation which he said helped his company to fulfill its desire.
He called on well meaning Nigerians and philanthropists to support institutions of learning as government alone cannot do it.
Izam, who received the books in company of some management staff of the University, thanked BCIL for its positive contribution to the development of the institution.
The VC described the gesture as timely as the University awaits the arrival of accreditation team from National Universities Commission (NUC).
He said that acquiring required books was a necessary condition for the accreditation of courses in the university.
“We are in the process of acquiring 10,000 books and 6,000 of them have arrived already.
“We sincerely appreciate your company for the donation and pledge to sustain meaningful interaction with your company,” he added.
