Bauchi NDE graduates 1,500 women on skills

The National Directorate of Employment (NDE), on Wednesday graduated 1, 500 women on different skills acquisition after two weeks training in Bauchi.
Speaking at the NDE office in Bauchi, the State Coordinator Bauchi field office, Ali Lawan Yaya, said that 912 were trained on Cosmetology, while 588 were taught other trades, Computer, shoe and bag making, tailoring among others.
The training which was under the direction of Dr Nasir Ladan Mohammed Argungu, the Director General of the NDE, said, “this is the first time NDE is training women and advancing them with money and chemical to settle down with for the past 31 years”.
The state coordinator, Lawan Yaya, however said the realisation that “when you train a woman is like you are training the whole nation, is why we are training women first.”
He further said that the graduands will be given N14, 600, to start the business with an additional N5, 000 to purchase the items that they will need to start off with.
He added that the N14, 600 loan will be paid back in two years, saying that they will be paying back the money every month at N610 monthly to make it easier for them to repay the loan.
He also said the women after producing their market they will bring it back to them and they will take it to the Internally displaced persons (IDPs), so they Don’t need to take their products to market.
The State coordinator, warned the graduands to use what they learned into practice and that they should not sell up the materials that wereas given to them.
Also, the Coordinator of the women trainees, Barr Aminu Balarabe Isah, encouraged the women to remain focus and ensure that they practice the business with a clear hope of making profit out of it.
The start-off materials given to the graduands for free include the following, Cosmetology items; Petroleum Jelly, Paraffin Oil, Paraffin Wax, Fragrance, and 125gram containers.
The graduands also received training in Shampoo, Detergent, Liquid Soap, Mentholatum, and Vaseline making.
Others are making of Perfume, Hair Cream, and Room freshener.
One of the graduands, Amina Usman from Bauchi metropolis interviewed by The AUTHORITY said that she feels delighted for the kind gesture from the office of the Director General, Dr Nasir Ladan by training them to be self-reliant. “thank you very much,” she said.
