Kano State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has reconciled the warring factions of the State House of Assembly.
Following the reconciliation which brought the crisis to an end, the Assembly will reopen on Thursday to further consolidate the resolutions reached at the meeting.
According to a statement by the state Commissioner for Information, Youths, Internal Affairs and Culture, Malam Muhammad Garba, the reconciliation meeting was held late Tuesday at the Government House between representatives of the two feuding factions.
Governor Ganduje’s intervention calmed frayed nerves as the warring lawmakers agreed to sheathe their swords and continue with the normal business of lawmaking that will ensure socio-economic development of the state.
Garba added that the resolution of the crisis was in the interest of peace and democratic development of the state.
He further Stated that the meeting was held in a matured and responsible manner.
The AUTHORITY reports that 24 members of the House led by former Speaker, Alhasan Rurum had plotted to impeach Speaker Yusuf Abdullahi Atta in a manner that attracted the police sealing off the Assembly to ensure peace and order.
