Detained 32 members of the Movement for Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) and Biafra Independent Movement (BIM) were on Thursday arraigned before an Enugu Magistrate Court which ordered that they be taken to the Enugu Prisons.
They were arrested on May 22, 2019 in Enugu for alleged illegal procession.
The accused comprising 30 males and two females were arraigned before Magistrate Court of Enugu North presided by S. Okoro.
The police said that the offence contravened Section 41(A)(B) of the Criminal Code CAP C38 Laws of Federation of Nigeria 2004 as applicable to Enugu State.
The Enugu police command spokesman, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, who disclosed their arraignment in a press statement, said that while they were remanded in prison custody, their case files were referred to the state Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for further advice.
Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Danmallam Mohammed, has warned that his command would not tolerate any act or omission by any person or group of persons under any guise and which is capable of disrupting the existing peace in the state.
Mohammed urged members of the public to go about their lawful businesses in the state.
He also warned that any person or group of persons caught in any habit or omission capable of disrupting the peace in the state would face the full weight of the law.
