President Muhammadu Buhari has received the 2018 Appropriation Bill passed by the National Assembly last week.
The Budget of N9.12 trillion for the 2018 fiscal year, is an increase of N508 billion from the estimate of N8.612 trillion presented to the lawmakers by the President in November last year.
The bill was harmonised by a joint committee of the Senate and House of Representatives on Friday night before it was transmitted to the President.
Presidential Adviser on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Ita Enang, waited patiently for the harmonisation to be completed by the lawmakers at the National Assembly.
He was thereafter handed the document and he quickly rushed to the Aso Rock Villa for onward transmission to President Buhari.
The National Assembly leadership has promised to transmit the 2018 Budget to President Muhammadu Buhari today (Friday).
Senate President, Bukola Saraki, had a day earlier promised that the budget would be ready for the President to assent by Friday.
This was during an interview with the State House correspondents after the breaking of Ramadan fast dinner the President hosted National Assembly leadership to at the State House on Thursday night.
He had said then that: “I think that should have been done but we have to harmonize. It is just slight differences. It has been passed yesterday (Wednesday), it was in rules and proceedings today (yesterday). So I am sure by tomorrow (Friday) we will transmit it to the Presidency.”
