Newly elected executive members of the Correspondents Chapel of the Bauchi State Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists have resolved to ensure sanity in the discharge of responsibilities of its members. The newly elected Chairman of the Chapel, Mr. Shegun Awofodoji dropped this hint yesterday while delivering his acceptance speech shortly after the conduct of the election.
Mr Awofodoji said the new executive members would also initiate positive programmes for the progress of not only the Chapel, but the State Council of the NUJ in general.
The Chapel Chairman called on members to embrace peaceful coexistence for the unity and development of the Chapel.
Mr Segun Awofodiji therefore used the forum to remind the state government on the need to consider members of the Correspondents Chapel as partners in progress.
Inaugurating the newly elected executives of the Correspondents Chapel, the Bauchi State NUJ Chairman, Comrade Ibrahim Muhammad Malam Goje who commended members of the chapel for exhibiting high sense of maturity during the election exercise, called on them to support the State Council of the Union.
Comrade Goje said the State Council is committed towards ensuring regular training and retraining of journalists for effective service delivery.
Earlier, the Chairman Electoral Committee, Mr. Austine Tsenzughul expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of the election and urged members to maintain the tempo.
The newly elected executive members of the Correspondents Chapel include, Mr. Segun Awofodoji of This Day Newspaper as Chairman, Adamu Imam Shehu of Liberty TV as Vice Chairman, Kawu Muhammad of New Nigeria Newspaper as Secretary, Hafsat Adebayo of The Authority Newspaper as Treasurer while Muazu Hardawa of Dandal Kura Radio as Auditor.
