Police harvests criminals in FCT

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, has arrested many criminal suspects from different parts of the capital city in connection with different crimes.

Speaking with journalists in Abuja, the Commissioner of Police in charge of the FCT, Sadiq Bello, disclosed that, recently, as part of inter-agency collaboration, 2 armed robbery suspects, Abdulrahaman Haruna, and Zakari Bawa, were arrested with one locally-made pistol and handed over to the Command by Military Operatives.

After taking-over the two suspects, the CP said, operatives of the Command Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) immediately swung into action and arrested the leader of the gang, one Friday Okpara.

According to him, a locally-made pistol was also recovered from him and that in the course of investigation, Ojo Adebisi, 31 years and Kasimu Isa, 20 years old were identified by the principal suspects as the suppliers of the firearms to the gang for their robbery operations.

The suspects, he said, further revealed that they carry-out their armed robbery operations around Gwagwalada-Kwali axis.

He further disclosed that, recently, at Kuje Junction Gwagwalada, Police operatives arrested one Samaila Muhammed, 28 years old and Musa Yusuf, 29 years old while trying to snatch a motorcycle from its owner at gunpoint.

The suspects, the CP said confessed that they specialise in the robbery of motorcycles at gunpoint and the motorcycles are resold between N90,000 to one N110,000.

According to him, so far, four stolen motorcycles, one locally-made pistol, and one expended cartridge have been recovered from the suspects as exhibits.
