A Peoples Democratic chieftain, Ijeoma Wada, yesterday, said award conferred on the Governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu, and Senator Theodore Orji, as Governor of The Year 2017 and Senator of the Year 2017 respectively by Authority Newspaper was well deserved.
Wada made the statement at the event organised by Authority Newspaper in recognizing good governance and impact on the citizenry, which most governors, were also given awards in various sectors that have impacted.
According to her the performance of Ikpeazu has been outstanding and beneficial to the electorates after three years touching all the local government areas in the state.
She said: “We are all happy with the awards given by Authority Newspaper in recognition of what His Excellency, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu and Sen Theodore Orji, have achieved as far as good governance is concerned.
“The Governor and Senator deserve the award of Governor of the Year 2017 and Senator of the Year 2017 respectively.
“As an individual and a committed party person it is a challenge to those of us who wants to serve the people willingly and passionately. I believe these awards will spur our governor and senator to give their best, especially after they are re-elected come 2019.”
She also appreciated the organizer of the event, as she acknowledged the effort made by the medium to keep elected officers on their toes by ensuring that dividends of democracy trickles down to the electorates who voted them in, and also tasked them on giving the needed information on accountability and inform the people what the government was doing.
