Senator Theodore Orji (PDP Abia Central) has promised to sponsor bills that will attract more dividends of democracy to his senatorial district through the National assembly.

After receiving The AUTHORITY Newspaper’s “Senator of the Year Award” yesterday, Orji said that the honour would spur him to do more for his people.

He said: “I feel happy about the award been accorded me by The AUTHORITY Newspapers because it a global recognition. That newspaper has chosen me as Senator of the Year is something that gladdens my heart and those who know me.

“This award would spur me to more positive action; it is an incentive for me to do more things for my constituency. You saw the crowd that came here, I will not disappoint them.

“I have to live up to expectation by ensuring that dividends of democracy will reach them by ensuring that bills and motions that are relevant to the society, to Nigeria positively are sponsored. We will make sure that bills passed by the Senate are assented into law,” he said.

On his aspiration for 2019, he said he would seek for a second term in the Senate to enable him consolidate on his legislative experience by chairing major committees in the Senate.

“However, in 2023 I will quit the stage for the younger people to take over because we all passed the not too young to run bill. I want to put it in practice. When I quit I will make sure that the youth take over,” he noted.
