Barring any further hitches, the election into the Governing Board of the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) will now hold in Lagos on Saturday, July 7, 2018, the third rescheduling in less than two months.
The election was originally fixed for May 16 in Abuja, then to June 29 and, less than 24 hours to that, it was postponed indefinitely without any explanation, which angered the freight forwarding associations, their contestants and other maritime logistics stakeholders.
The election had been embroiled in different issues, one of the most recent on the burner was the disqualification of some associations’ stalwarts in a move that could have jeopardized the process once more, save that those involved took their disqualification in good faith so long as the election held as planned.
Nevertheless, the CRFFN Registrar, Mike Jukwe, in a text message circulated Monday, stated that the accreditation of voters will hold tomorrow, July 5 and Friday, July 6, 2018 at 9.00a.m ahead of the election on Saturday at the Freight Forwarders Headquarters, GRA, Apapa, Lagos.
“While accreditation of voters holds on Thursday and Friday, July 5 and 6, 2018, the election of practitioners into the governing council now holds on Saturday, July 7, 2018,” the message read. “Venue: Freight Forwarders’ Hqtrs. GRA Apapa, Lagos. Time: 9am daily. Best regards. Mike Jukwe.”
