The Nnewi Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NCCIMA), yesterday, held her 19th annual general meeting and also unveiled her 9th president, Mr Ifeanyi Uzodike, the Managing Director of Cutix Plc, Nnewi.
In his speech, the outgone president, Engr Linus Ilozue paid glowing tribute to the founding fathers of the chamber for conceptualising the idea of setting up NCCIMA which he said has positively impacted members.
He noted that the chamber under his watch had purchased and fenced a piece of land that would house NCCIMA, noting that no nation could effectively engage in international business without strong chamber.
Engr Ilozue said the chamber is already discussing with the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola on how to improve power supply to the industrial town of Nnewi, noting that adequate power supply to the town would enhance productivity.
The Anambra State Deputy governor, Dr Nkem Okeke at the occasion noted that NCCIMA is one of the strongest chambers in the country.
He said the state Governor, Chief Willie Obiano is passionate about getting stable and adequate power supply to the industrial town which has created a name for herself as ‘Japan of Africa’
Dr Okeke pledged the support of the Anambra State Government to NCCIMA which he said is doing a lot toward engaging the youths in and outside Anambra State.
The new president of NCCIMA, Mr Ifeanyi Uzodike in his acceptance speech promised to move the chamber to a new level even as he solicited the support of all members.
Prof Okechukwu Mbonu, Chairman Cutix Plc and Robert Anwatu, Chairman CEO Roban Stores presented papers on the theme “The making of a successful and sustainable enterprise” during the occasion in which the youth wing of NCCIMA was inaugurated.
