The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh has applauded the re-election of Prof. Victor Chude as the chair of African Soil Partnership (ASP) for the second consecutive time.
According to him, Prof Chude’s outstanding performance as a chairman fertiliser technical committee and former President Soil science of Nigeria, endeared him as deserving of the position.
He therefore called on Professor Chude to use his position to commit more efforts to realization of food security in Nigeria and Africa in general.
In a letter of appointment signed by the Global Soil Partnership (GSP) secretary, Ronald Vargas, Professor Chude is to serve between 2018 to 2020.
Vargas said as part of Chude’s duty, he is expected to help facilitate the functioning of the Regional Soil Partnership (RSP), maintain the communication with the member of the Regional and Global Soil Partnerships secretariat, encourage the execution of regional implementation plan.
He also encouraged him to ensure participation in the GSP plenary assembly and present the report of the RSP, advocate for support to the regional Soil Partnership.
Professor Victor Chude was the former President of the Soil Science Society of Nigeria and the chairman Fertilizer Technical Committee of the Federal government.
