FIFA 2018: France rules the world

France yesterday in Moscow won the 2018 FIFA world cup after defeating Croatia 4–2 in an epic final game watched by 80,000 fans.

Croatian midfielder, Mario Mandzuric scored an own goal off an Anton Griezmann’s free kick to gift the Blues their first goal with just 18 minutes of play.

France won their first world cup trophy in 1998 when they hosted the championship.

But Ivan Perisic leveled scores for Croatia in the 27th minute with a superb strike that caught the France goalkeeper Ilorris napping.

However, the game took s turn when in the 38th minute, France was rather awarded a soft penalty which was converted by Anton Griezmann to take their tally to two.

But the real drama began in the second half when Manchester United playmaker Paul Pogba scored the third after a superlative run by Mbappe.

Mbappe himself was to get on the scorers sheet shortly after as the Croatian defence seemed to have lost concentration.

However, France goalkeeper, Ilorris was to help Mandzuric make some amendments when he attempted to dribble the goal thirsty player who punished him by simply slotting the ball into his net.
