Eighteen months after the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Special squad nabbed dreaded kidnapper and armed robber, Henry Nwabueze, popularly known as Vampire, another dreaded member of his gang, Emeka Durunzenwata, also known as Bimbo has been nabbed by the Imo State Police command.
Durunzenwata, was a member of Vampire’s gang and is alleged to have personally in 2015 attacked and killed a policeman and set a police operational vehicle ablaze.
He was arrested at Akata market square in Oru West local government area of Imo State, two years after he had been on the wanted list.
He is a native of Amaigbo in Nwangele Local Government Area of Imo state where Vampire hailed from.
A police source who pleaded anonymity told The AUTHORITY that the suspect masterminded the robbery and murder of one Chidi Eburuaji of Owerre Nkworji in Nkwerre local government area of the state.
According to him, the “operatives of the Federal Special Anti Robbery Squad (F-SARS) led by the commander, CSP Victor Godfrey arrested the suspect at Akata market square in the Oru west LGA on August 4, and his arrest is a major breakthrough because apart from being a key member of the late vampire’s squad, he had masterminded many kidnap, robbery and murder cases, including one Obi from Amaigbo in Nwangele”.
He listed other victims to include Emeka Nwaosueze; Barrister Anthony Onuka from Eziama Obiere amongst others.
Already, past victims of the suspect have besieged the Police command to narrate their ugly experience while in his custody, which the Police is perfecting to nail him.
Items found in his possession were 4,000 Guineescent; One US dollar and three Ghana cedis.
Meanwhile, the State Police spokesman, Andrew Enwerem, confirmed the arrest, even as he attributed the breakthrough to community policing strategies deployed by the state commissioner of police, Dasuki Galandanchi.
