The General Manager, Kogi region of AEDC, Aminat Ibrahim, has warned staff of the Organization against extortion of money from customers, saying that the firm would henceforth take drastic measure against anyone found perpetuating this evil
The Manager stated said in Lokoja, the Kogi state capital during a stakeholders meeting organized for customers in the area.
Ibrahim also charged the customers in the region not to be tempted to give any of the AEDC staff money for change of poles and maintenance of its networks.
She said the organisation was responsible for replacement of damage poles and maintenance of its networks, adding that on no account should customers pay its staff for such services.
In order to eliminate illegal charges, she said AEDC has invested N10 billion for the procurement of 222, 000 prepaid metres which would soon be distributed to customers in its states of operations including Kogi State.
She urged customers that had issues with their current bills to resolve them before their debts are transfer on the new meters.
According to her, the states cover by the distribution company includes Kogi, Nasarawa, Niger and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
While advising customers to ensure that they pay their bills promptly, she noted that the company can only improve its services to the the over 151, 000 customers in Kogi State, if resources are available through payment for services rendered.
Also speaking, the representative of the director, risk and compliance of the company, Mr Henry Digu, said the event was meant to sensitise the community on safety.
According to him, people should desist from building their houses under high tension cables, saying cable cut could lead to danger and untimely deaths.
He also warned the customers against engaging local contractors and non professionals for electrical connections in their residences.
