Lokoja /Kogi Federal Constituency bye election : materials arrived early as PDP candidate expressed fear of intimidation

Acreditation commenced by 8am on Saturday in the election into the vacant House of Representatives seat for Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency in Kogi State.

There was earlier deployment of Staff and materials by the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) to the polling units across the Federal constituency.

The process was progressing smoothly except for few areas where the voters confronted some government officials escorted by security agents for invading some polling units, saying that they were not registered voters in those areas.

However, at Gegu-Beki,Engr Abubakar Bashir the candidate of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), expressed fear of intimidation by the ruling All Progressive Congress, (APC) led Government in the state.

He noted that it took the timely intervention of security agents to be able to wade off political thugs allegedly deployed to the area by the APC

In Koton-Karfe town, a chieftain of APC in the area, Seidu Akawu commended INEC and security agents for early arrival of materials and maintenance of peace.

“If they election continue this way, we can say our electoral process is taking root ” he said

In all the places visit, the AUTHORITY observed that the election was going on peacefully.
