Ahead of the Nigeria’s African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Seychelles next month, Super Eagles’ captain, Mikel Obi has said that contrary to speculations that he may not be available for selection, he will be fit and ready for the encounter.
The Tianjin FC star who was not dressed in his team’s Week-17 game against Henan Jianye told reporters that he is already working towards getting his full match fitness adding that he will soon return to action.
“I am getting better already and trying to get back to fitness before I start playing again; hopefully in a week or two weeks time, I will return to the field of play.
“For the game against Seychelles next month, I’m confident that I will be fit before then but for now, I just want to focus on getting back full fitness” Mikel stated.
This news will definitely come as a soothing relief to Super Eagles Coach who will be happy to have his most experienced player back as the battle for the AFCON 2019 tickets beckon.
Nigeria lost her first qualification game of the championship to South Africa in Uyo, making it the first time the Bafana Bafana will be defeating the Super Eagles in a competitive match.
