From Pwanagba Agabus, Jos
The Patriotic Northern Coalition for Justice, Peace and Equity, said it has planned a mass rally in solidarity with the All Progressive Congress (APC), National Chairman Comrade Adams Oshiomhole for his approach in stabilizing the party.
Coordinator of the coalition, Babangida Sule-Manchok, said as a ruling party, whatever affects the APC will have widespread impact on the entire nation, adding that it was imperative for the recent crises to be tackled effectively, which he said Oshomhole has begun on a sound note.
Addressing newsmen in Jos, Sule-Manchok said the rally will also honour Senator Godswill Akpabio, who recently defected from the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, explaining that his action will enhance true national unity, as against the erroneous impression that the APC was a regional party with sympathy for a particular religion.
The Coordinator said many Northern leaders and politician are members of the PDP, and it was also necessary for leaders and politicians from the South-South and South-East, especially, to join the APC in order to create a balance in the polity and to propel democratic development.
“We commend the patriotic approach and doggedness of Comrade Adams A. Oshiomhole, the APC National Chairman, for trying to sanitize the entire system of Nigerian politics, through his effective tactics in handling the affairs of the party since he took over, as well as his approach in resolving the recent crises in the party which he inherited. This is because as a ruling party, if there are any crises rocking it, there would definitely be negative impact on the nation, directly or indirectly. And on the other hand, if there the party is crises-free and flourishing; it would have positive impact on the nation.
“That is why we appreciate Oshomhole for restoring stability to the party. Hence, we as a coalition are therefore planning a mass rally in support of Oshomhole across the North. We shall also be showing our love and support for President Muhammadu Buhari for his effective leadership, particularly his anti-corruption fight.”
He enjoined other party leaders to emulate the APC Chairman, saying that Nigeria has never had a dogged, courageous, reliable and no-nonsense party Chairman like him, especially considering his antecedent as an unprecedented labour leader and an engineer of dividends of democracy to Edo State when he served as the executive governor of the state.
