From John Silas, Lagos
The family of Nwagairi of Benin City, Edo State has raised alarm over the whereabouts of their son, Nwagairi James Eze who was last seen in Lagos State, in 2011.
The family got worried that Eze, who was said to have escaped from a hospital in Lagos, after he was rushed there by a good Samaritan after he was allegedly stabbed by a group of cult members upon misunderstanding among them.
They alleged that since he was said to have escaped from the Lagos hospital in 2011, no one has seen him ever since.
According to a report by sources at the time, James was said to have escaped from the hospital, after it was discovered that he was gay and also involved in cult practice.
James elder brother, Nwangiri Kennedy Chikenyen told our correspondent that when the news about James’s sexual orientation and cult activities got to him while he was still in hospital, he was very angry.
Kennedy said, “When James confessed to me that he was gay, I was very angry and because of that anger I left him in the hospital. He also told me that the people that wanted to kill him are cult members and that he was having an affair with one of them, that they were trying to initiate him into their cult but he refused and that was what sparked the problem.”
Kennedy said when he told his partners and other family members about what James has done, his family members immediately followed him to the hospital, but that they didn’t find him there.
According to him, the hospital management told them that James escaped, while they were still treating his injury and that they don’t know his whereabouts.
The family members said they later reported the matter to the Police and got a police report after presenting a court affidavit to the police on the matter.
According to them, they later got information that the gay partner of James was killed by unknown person.
The worried Nwagairi family members said since the whereabouts of their brother, James Eze remains unknown; it was then unclear to them if he is still alive, as all effort to know about his whereabouts since then proved abortive.
They fear that he might have been killed either by the cult group or angry mob as the Nigerian society is seriously averse to same sex activities.
