My administration will not condone thuggery, political violence – Governor Yahaya Bello

Kogi state governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello has warned politicians in the state against any forms of violence and acrimony, stressing that whoever indulge in election crises will be made to face the full wrath of the law.

Governor Bello gave the warning in Okene during a sallah visit by Kabba community to thank the governor for the appointment of a new traditional ruler , the Obaro of Kabba Chief Solomon Oladele Owoniyi.

The governor who assured the people of the state that he will not anoint any candidate for any elective positions, said his administration will not condone election violence no matter how small, urging politicians in the state to behave well during the forthcoming primary and general elections.

“This administration will not condone political violence, who ever indulge in crises will face the full wrath of the law” he said.

He commended Kabba community for selecting a pious man as Obaro of Kabba, saying that his administration will continue to follow due process in the appointment of traditional rulers in order to pave ways for peace in the state.

Governor Bello urged the new Obaro to use his experience as a civil servant to bring Kabba people together as one indivisible entity for the development of the land, assuring that he will prevailed on the aggrieved few to shield their swords in the interest of peace and harmony of the area.

He promised that by the second week of September, 2018 the coronation of the the monarch will done by the state government.

The Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly Rt. Honourable Matthew Kolawole who led the community for the visit, noted that in the past the appointment of Obaro of Kabba was always characterized by fracas , burning of houses and killing of innocent souls.

He commended the governor for allowing the people to select the candidate of their choice, pleading the support and cooperation of the community to the state government.

Earlier, the spokesman of the community Barrister Kabiru Fadile in his remark described the governor as a leader who fulfilled promises, assuring that the area will continue to experience peace.
