The National President, Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers, (NCRIB) Mr. Shola Tinubu has called on Nigerians to patronize registered Insurance company, with a view to taking themselves out of poverty.
Tinubu who assured that the scheme has the capability to alleviate poverty, made the call during the inauguration of new executive members of the council’s Northern Area Committee (NAC) in Kaduna.
Represented by a member from the council, Mr Tunde Oguntade, he advised members of the society who are thinking otherwise to continue to patronize insurance companies in order to safeguarding their future.
He explained that “losses occasioned by fire and death of breadwinners have been inducing poverty on our people because insurance cover has not been taken. Consequently, the unfortunate victims become poorer”.
Meanwhile, the newly elected chairman of NAC, Mr Moshood Akinade Rahuf has pledged to work tirelessly with his exco members towards changing the negative impression people had on insurance scheme.
Rahuf who promised that professionalism will be the key focus under his leadership said they have already swung into action with a view to changing the face of insurance practice
To this end, he said “we have been running programs on radio both in Hausa and English languages in Kaduna and other northern area chapters to educate people about what insurance is all about and of course the role that insurance brokers play in insurance value chain”.
