Lagos became 4th biggest economy, contributes 22.1% to GDP since 8th Assembly, Hon Olawale

Honourable Abdul Sobur Olayiwola Olawale (Omititi), the lawmaker representing Mushin Constituency II at the Lagos State House of Assembly has stated that Lagos State has become 4th biggest economy in Africa and contributes 22.1% to the national Gross Domestic Product (GDP) since the inception of the 8th Lagos Assembly.

Omititi said this while unveiling his achievements in the last three years to the public, while saying he deserves another tenure.

Olawale made the disclosure at a Press Conference in Alausa-Ikeja during the weekend. He said the state has witnessed unprecedented development especially in the present administration as verified by Economic experts, Financial Derivatives Ltd, led by a foremost economist Bismark Rewane which ranked Lagos economy as the 4th Biggest in Africa and 22.1% of the Gross Domestic Products (GDP) of Nigeria being contributed by Lagos State.

He said through the mandate given to him in the last three and half years he has recorded huge successes in different areas especially at the empowerment front, “Our masses upliftment initiatives have had countless beneficiaries across the 10 wards in our constituency.”

Among his achievements were insuring a Constituency that is conducive and functional; Continuous Free Computer Training Programme; Make-up and Gele Tying Kits and Training for Mushiners. He has also procured Free GCE Forms for his constituents, ensured Yuletide Gifts of different kinds to his people; Presentation of Bus to Motherless Homes and provision of portable drinking water through digging of Boreholes in his constituency and Provision of financial support to widows and constituents who are in need.

Others include “Giving out of uniforms to schools; Eradication of Malaria in my Constituency in collaboration with Rotary Club of Agege; OMITITI Unity Cup; I have also Facilitated employment opportunities; facilitated the provision of Street lights in 53 streets in my Constituency; I have facilitated the tarring of roads and Urban Electrification.”

Olawale has also facilitated employment for over 100 people that include doctors, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) officials, Teachers and Nurses.

On road construction and repairs he said he has enhanced work on Aborishade Street, Lawanson; Obagun Street among others other ongoing road works in various ward under his constituency.

Olawale has also said he has made tremendous conteibution in Education and Health “I have helped in the upgrading of healthcare Centre at Omodigbo; facilitation of maintenance and general equipment procurement for Mushin General Hospital and Omonigbeyin Healthcare Centre.”

Olawale has also contributed in sponsoring of motions and Resolutions in the House which include Need for Regulation of Noise Pollution in Lagos State (Monday, 27th July,2015); Call for Automation of the Entire Traffic Monitoring system in Lagos State (Monday,14th September, 2015); Call for urgent investigation into the Activities and funding of the federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) in respect of Federal Roads in Lagos State in the last Eight years (Tuesday, 15th September, 2015);

Call on the Commissioner for Transportation to collaborate with the Nigeria Police(Traffic Department)and other relevant Government Quarters for a period of six (6) months (Tuesday, 20th October 2015); Call on his Excellency, the Governor of Lagos State Mr Akinwunmi Ambode to direct the Lagos State public works corporation to carry out palliative measures on Daleko- Mushin road so as to ensure free flow of traffic (Tuesday 3rd November, 2015); Need to check the incursion of commercial Motorcycle Riders into BRT Corridor on Ikorodu – Mile 12 Axis (Tuesday 1st December 2015);

Refusal of the 6 (six) Tutor-Generals/Permanent Secretaries of the Education Districts in the state to honor the invitation of committee on Education (Monday 15thFebruary 2016);

Preventing Yoruba language from Extinction in Lagos State (Thursday, 13th October 2016);
