The Road Transport Employers’ of Nigeria (RTEAN) has elected Comrade Osakpamwan Eriyo as its national president.
Until his election after the recent removal of High Chief Musa Shehu Isiwele as the national president by the association, Eriyo was the former chairman of Edo State chapter of RETEAN as well as that of South-South zone and the sixth vice president of the group.
Addressing newsmen in his office on Wednesday, RETEAN National Secretary, Comrade Yusuf Adeniyi, said that Eriyo’s election came from the poll conducted by the National Executive Council (NEC) and national delegates at its national secretariat in Abuja.
Adeniyi said that the association had reinstated all the executives in its Lagos State chapter dissolved earlier, adding that Alhaji Musa Mohammed, who was earlier removed by RETEAN as its member, chairman of Lagos State chapter as well as deputy national president (Administration) had been reinstated.
He said: “Some time ago, we expelled and dismissed our former national president and his deputy (Administration), Alhajis Musa Shehu Isiwele and Musa Mohammed respectively. But after consultations and interventions among members, the association agreed that Musa Mohammed’s offence was not serious enough to expel and dismiss him.
“So, RTEAN has reinstated him to his former position. The caretaker committee put in place in Lagos has been dissolved while the former executives earlier dissolved, resonated and headed by Mohammed. And all the NEC and delegates moved vote of confidence on Eriyo as the elected national president of the association,” he said.
