One of the leading aspirant for the Kogi East Senatorial District, Prince Yahaya Audu Oyidi has said that if the principles of equity, fairness and justice is allowed to prevail in the choice of who represent the Igala Bassa nation in the National Assembly, he remain a candidate to beat.
Addressing newsmen in Lokoja on Monday , Prince Yahaya, who younger brother of Late Prince Abubakar Audu, said the district is not an animal kingdom, thus called on the leadership of the APC at the state and National level, to guide against marginalization and oppression, describing such tendencies as inimical to the ideology of the APC.
Prince Yahaya called for a level playing field that would enable the areas best emerge, warned against imposition and anointing of candidate’s, saying that the delegates should be made to have freedom of choices, in a free, fair, credible and transparent primaries.
The aspirant lamented a situation where the Eastern Senatorial District has suffered underdevelopment which had made living an agony for majority of its citizenry.
While noting that the challenge faced by the eastern senatorial district demands for collective responsibility, calling on the people to rise up and provide a new concept of representation, adding that he has the will, vision to offer quality people oriented representation.
The aspirant blamed the backwardness of the district to several ineffective representation in the past, which he noted has contributed immensely to the prevailing underdevelopment in the area.
He added that his qualities of hard work, intelligence, network of vital international contacts and linkages, extensive experience, is capable of improving the welfare and fortunes of the people using the instrumentality of effective lawmaking.
He promised to use his will, exposure, character to provide quality representation and render selfless service to the people of Kogi east senatorial district in a new concept of representation, towards sustain development if elected.
Prince Yahaya assured that if elected he will work an improved agricultural and industrial revolution, says he will through legislative engagement with relevant committees ensure that every local government in the district gets a study centre of the National Open University within his first one year, amongst others, towards bringing education closer to the people.
He added that if elected he would address the plight of rural women through sustained economic empowerment and skill acquisition programmes, even as he promised to make the youths productive, sensitive, and the true leaders of tomorrow.
Prince Yahaya concluded by asking for Idah federal constituency to be given the opportunity to produce the next Senator, saying that his mission is to influence the development of human capital development, with a thrust where quality representation and service inspires confidence.
