UGOCHI NWAGBO reports that during the 2018 long vacation that just ended, that One Hundred and Twenty (120) Students were sponsored by Skillsporte Nigeria renowned for Career Development and Lifelong Learning Opportunities for Six weeks each for different batches on Basic ICT training in collaboration with Deosoft Technologies located at Umuokpu-Awka in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The students whose age ranges between 10 and 15 graduated and were armed with their certificates and they now have opportunity for further training by Skillsporte Nigeria via its certified trainer Deosoft Technologies.
According to the Managing Director of Deosoft Technologies, Mr Godwin Okonkwo Skillsporte Nigeria subsidized the cost of the training per student which ought to be N4,500 and the students paid only N1,000 for the computer course comprising of 14 different basic digital literacy courses.
Okonkwo informed that the second stage of subsidized training by Skillsporte Nigeria for adults is in the offing and rather than N18,000 or more each participant should pay, Skillsporte Nigeria has subsidized the payment to N3,750 for a six Months Diploma Course which will feature Google Digital Literacy Skills for Africa, Basic Web Designing and PC Maintenance. He announced Enemuo Uchenna as first position ; Nduka Akachukwu as the second position , and Mbanefo Godstime as the third position. He said Deosoft Technologies on its own has trained over 2,000 students since its inception in September 2012.
He further said that there was complete impartiality in marking and grading of the students hence whoever emerged was on merit.
In an interview, Maduka Chukwujekwu, SS1 student of Comprehensive Secondary School, Nawfia and Obeagu Loveth, SS1 student of Community Secondary School , Umuokpu were full of praises to the Skillsporte Nigeria and Deosoft Technologies for the opportunity given school children to be experts in digital literacy at their tender age, insisting that the ten commandments of Computer they learnt will be memorable.
On their part, Enemuo Uchenna of JSS1 St Michaels Nimo and Success Kachi , SS1 of Abagana Girls said the knowledge of computer they acquired justified the period they stayed. They said they can now manipulate computer even as they prayed God to continue to replenish the pockets of all those that contributed to the success of the training.
Most of the parents were very happy for the opportunity given to them by SkillsPorte Nigeria to enable them send their wards to acquire the knowledge amidst the severe economic situation of the country.
