Wife of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mrs Asta Ibrahim,  has called for the support of officers wives in order to reposition the Police Officers Wives Association (POWA) for greater efficiency.

Mrs Ibrahim made the call at a meeting with officials of the association in Abuja where she presented herself as the new President.

IGP’s wife noted that the support and cooperation of all members of the association was required to move the association to greater height.

She noted that as officers wives,  they needed to support and encourage their husbands,  train their children and also cater to the welfare of members as well as widows of deceased officers.

The POWA president said she had taken time to study the association’s set up and activities alongside those of other sister bodies with the view to come up with a robust blueprint to transform POWA.

” I have been studying our association’s set up and previous activities alongside those of other sister associations in order to

properly understand where we are coming from, where we stand today and where we can stand tomorrow,

“We shall look into improving  our relationship with other sister associations, and with this, I believe it will portray the relationship between the police and the agencies of other sister’s associations on the positive side”, POWA President said.

She therefore called for suggestions, ideas and inputs from members of the association to enable her accomplish her mission and vision for the association.

“I must confess I cannot accomplish all these unless I have your full support and unflinching loyalty.

“I need your suggestions, contribution and full participation and to achieve

this,  I shall be running an open door policy,” she said.

She equally called for the understanding and patience of members in order to succeed saying, “As mothers,  there is need to improve in terms of skills acquisition, providing for widows and orphans within and outside our organisation so as to reduce the rate of crime and criminality in our society,” Mrs Kpotun-Idris added.
