Kogi State former Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, has described the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), and Nigerians former vice President Alhaji Abubakar Atiku as a sign of hope for Nigerians.
The former governor, in statement personally signed, congratulated the former vice President for the fit he recorded at the recent PDP national convention in Port Harcourt, River state.
While describing the convention as the most credible and transparent ever, Idris noted that the choice of Alhaji Atiku as the party standard bearer by the delegates was noble.
According to him, Alhaji Atiku is also the most prepared candidate that would turn the fortunes of the country from bad to good.
“Alhaji Atiku I know, is very much experienced and articulate in governance. This is a man who is ready to transform this country with his wealth of experience.”
“Let me also use this medium to congratulate the entire Nigerians and the PDP for making a wise choice in Alhaji Abubakar Atiku.”
The former governor equally salute the maturity and patriotism of other presidential aspirants, who displayed spirit of sportsmanship during and after the convention.
Alhaji Idris also urged party members including delegates, particularly from Kogi state, who must have had their preferred aspirants at the convention to come together and work towards the victory of the party come next year presidential election.
“Every delegates must have his or her preferred aspirant during the convention, however only one aspirant must emerge as the party candidate. It is now time to put all our interest in one basket toward actualising the victory of PDP come next year presidential election and other elections,” Alh. Idris added.
He therefore assured Nigerians that the victory of Alhaji Abubakar Atiku next year will change the county’s narration for the better.
Similarly, a governorship hopeful, under the umbrella of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Nicholas Yahaya Ugbane, has felicitated with Turakin Adamawa, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar over his emergence as the Presidential flag bearer of PDP for the 2019 election.
The former senator, who was speaking in a chat with journalists on Wednesday , noted that the victory of the former vice president in the keenly contested presidential primary election in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, was a testimony of his popularity and acceptability.
He said that the success of Atiku in the exercise was an indication of a man whose time has come, adding that odds are immensely in his favour, in the next presidential election.
Senator Ugbane pointed out that Nigerians are ready to change the ongoing charade and circus in governance, at all levels in the country, noting that Alhaji Atiku looks unstoppable in 2019 presidential election.
He was optimistic that, with the wealth of experience of Alhaji Atiku, his business acumen and job-creating ability, the battered Nigerian economy would be revived.
He urged the PDP presidential candidate to immediately initiate a process of reconciliation across the country, to placate all those that may have been aggrieved during the party primaries.
The former senator praised all the contestants in the Presidential primary election, for their maturity and sacrifice for peace, before, during and after the exercise, maintaining that such spirit should be replicated as the campaign gets underway.
Concluding, the former senator extolled the organizational skills of the national chairman, Uche Secondus, the entire national officers of the party, as well as the convention committee, led by Governor Okowa of Delta State.
