Gunmen kill soldier, abduct woman in Plateau

The Plateau State Police Command has confirmed the killing of a soldier and the abduction of a 21-year-old woman.

The command’s spokesman, DSP Mathias Terna Tyopev, said in Jos on Wednesday that carried out the attack in a red colour Golf car

Tyopev said that “On the 09/10/2018 at about 21:00 hours, Alhaji Idris Gambo of Corner Soja, Jos reported at the Laranto Police Division that on the same date at about 1950hrs, some unknown gunmen went to his house located at the above mentioned address in a red colour Golf vehicle and forcefully took his daughter Hafsat Gambo, who is 21 years old to an unknown destination.

“After his report, the Police immediately mobilised to the scene of the crime. On arrival, the Police discovered that in the bid to escape, the gunmen shot and fatally injured one L/Cpl Abdullahi S. attached to Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) Sector One, Zaria Road Jos.

“He was immediately rushed to Bingham University Teaching Hospital, Jos but was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty,” he said

The police spokesman said that the corpse of the Lance Corporal had been deposited at the aforementioned hospital’s mortuary, adding that investigation into the case had begun.
