Sifawa emerges vice president North West zone HSN

The former head of department of history at Sokoto State University (SSU) Dr Ahmad Attahiru Sifawa had emerged as the vice president north west zone of historical Society of Nigeria (HSN).

The don who emerged unopposed in the just concluded 63rd annual congress of the association is the current chairman of Academic Staff Union Of University (ASUU) Sokoto State University chapter.

This year congress was held at Nigeria Defense Academy (NDA) Kaduna with a theme Military factors in Nigeria history since 1960.

Also elected is Prof Okpeh Okpeh Ochai Junior as the National president of the Union.

In his reactions the vice chancellor Sokoto State University (SSU) Sokoto prof Sani Mohammed Dangoggo said the news of Sifawa emergency did not come to them as surprise looking at his tracked records and his contributions to the development of the association.

Dangoggo who further described Sifawa as erudite scholar said he believe Sifawa will contribute his quarter for the development of the association and prayed Almighty Allah to grant him wisdom and knowledge as regard to the new assignment.

On his part a lecturer at the department of history Sokoto state University Mr Odeh Godwin Onuh who extolled scholarly quality of both Prof Okpeh and Dr Sifawa said the dual will move the association to enviable height.

The Historical Society of Nigeria HSN annually hold Congress to deliberate on societal issues affecting the nation and proffer solutions to them .

Last year Congress was held at Sokoto state university with a theme institutions and nation building since 1960.
