The crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State widened yesterday as two governorship candidates have emerged from the party’s primaries ahead of the 209 elections.
While the Ben Nwoye led faction had produced Senator Ayogu Eze as its governorship candidate, the Deacon Okey Ogbodo led faction Monday issued a statement, disclaiming Eze, insisting that its governorship candidate remains George Tagbo Ogara
The faction in a statement issued by Deacon Okey Ogbodo said, “for the avoidance of doubts, the APC flag bearer in Enugu State is Barrister George Tagbo Ogara.
Continuing, the statement said “Ayogu Eze’s claim is most preposterous, indeed unfounded, because he came last (5th) in the APC primaries held in line with the Direct Primary Election option where he scored 7,690 votes while the winner, George Tagbo Ogara, scored 57,675 votes. It is, therefore, hilarious how he came to become the so called APC flag bearer.”
