Chelsea star Cesc Fabregas, 31, is considering his options after failing to nail down a regular starting spot under new Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri this season.
The Spain international has made just four appearances in all competitions and is yet to feature in the Premier League for the Blues.
A January move has been mooted and the influential midfielder has many potential suitors, including clubs in Italy and Spain.
And Atletico Madrid are set to make signing Fabregas in January their number one transfer priority.
The former Arsenal and Barcelona star is highly rated by Diego Simeone and despite having several central midfielders at his disposal, the Argentine manager is keen to draft him in too.
Fabregas is set to hold talks with Sarri in the next couple of weeks to discuss his long-term future at Stamford Bridge, with several clubs ready to snap him up in January.
His contract expires in the summer of 2019 and with no sign of a new deal on the table, a move in the New Year could suit all parties.
