Makers of fake and adulterated fertilisers may soon be caught up with the law as the Fertiliser Quality Control Bill which has scaled third reading at the National Assembly will soon be transmitted to President Muhammadu Buhari for assent into law.
The fertiliser quality bill which seeks to regulate the manufacture, importation, distribution and quality control of fertilisers in Nigeria and for other related matters, also stipulates punishment for makers of fake and adulterated fertilisers
The assurance was reiterated by the Chairman , Senate Committee on Agriculture Senator Abdullahi Adamu who spoke at a stakeholders meeting for developing implementing regulations for National fertiliser quality control bill organised by Alliance foe Green Revolution in Africa, AGRA in collaboration with the federal ministry of Agriculture and rural development in Abuja recently .
Represented by the Deputy Clerk, Senate committee on Agriculture Abdulazeez Yusuf, the Chairman pointed that the Senate recognised the importance of passing the bilk in to law and assured that it will be made into law before the end of the present administration.
