From Ada Uchendu, Owerri

The Imo State gubernatorial candidate of Change Advocacy Party (CAP), Rev Ikenna Emmanuel has presented the State correspondent of The AUTHORITY, Mrs Angela Nkwo-Akpolu as his running mate.

Emmanuel made the declaration during the formal presentation in Owerri, the Imo State capital.

According to him, past political leaders of the state had failed woefully and called on people of the state to ensure they vote for integrity, accountability and candidates who will restore the lost glory of the state.

He lamented that despite the huge human capital in the State, the State has been reduced to a shadow of itself due to bad policies and inhuman treatment by the government.

Emmanuel said if elected as Governor, he will restore the glory days of the State, even as he called for a level playing ground.

According to him, CAP is a party poised to improve the state with partnership from internationally trained experts in various fields to ensure a total overhaul of the system.

The cleric explained that the choice of Mrs Nkwo-Akpolu was highly supported, noting that as a seasoned Journalist, she boasts of in-depth knowledge of people and the State.

In her Speech, Nkwo-Akpolu stated that she accepted the position because of her determination to change the narrative about Imo as a state and move from armchair criticisms.

She called on the electorate to support the party to ensure the desired change is achieved in the state.

Nkwo-Akpolu, a seasoned Journalist has worked at Daily Times Newspaper where she rose to head the Judiciary/Human Rights desk.

Between 2007 and 2011, Nkwo-Akpolu served as the Chief Press Secretary to the Imo State First Lady, Barrister Chioma Ohakim.

She joined The AUTHORITY as a pioneer staff to correspond Imo State until the offer.
