Refuse has taken over Aba, residents cry out

Residents of Aba metropolis have condemned the way and manner the Abia state government has allowed refuse to take over major streets of the commercial city due to the lack of receptacle bins.

They have , therefore, charged the Abia State Environmental Protection Agency, Aba zone, to wake up to its duties of effectively managing as well as evacuating refuse generated in the city to avert possible break out of epidemics.

Speaking, the traditional ruler of Okahia Community in Obingwa Local Government Area, Eze Okey Ananaba, reminded the protection agency of its duties to ensure a decent environment devoid of dirt.

“I call on ASEPA, Aba zone to urgently create a permanent dump site outside Aba metropolis and commence the process of evacuating refuse from temporary dump site at Emelogu road, here in Aba, before the Orji Uzor Kalu bridge to the new permanent site,” he said.

The traditional ruler insisted that this process will quickly check the menace of health hazards posed by the refuse dump site to people inhabiting around the area.

Eze Ananaba also charged Abians to remain patient and persevere with the administration of Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu as well as support him strongly for effective delivery of dividends of democracy.
