Zamfara killings will soon be history – Buratai

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Abubakar Yusuf Buratai has
once again, asserted that the military would soon bring to an end, the killings and destruction in Zamfara and some parts of the country as they are doing
everything possible to ensure that all issues pertaining insecurity
are addressed.

He also assured the readiness of the military to work side by-side with other sister security agencies with a view to collectively bringing a lasting solution to the insurgency across the nation.
Buratai made the disclosure in Gusau the capital of zamfara state at the commissioning ceremony of the 1 brigade, Nigerian Army, Gusau during the week.

According to him, who was represented at the occasion by major General
Hakimo Otiki, army will continue to fight insurgency alongside other security agencies who are there to carry out their constitutional responsibilities.
Nigerian army, continued  Buratai will not rest until peace is achieved in Zamfara in particular, and the country in General, adding that, the army will ensure that all forms of crimes are eradicated through the improvement of the welfare of the troops in order to boost their morale, he added.

He commended president Muhammadu Buhari for his unflinching support to
the Nigerian army, without whose efforts, the achievement recorded so
far in respect of insecurity would not have been achieved.

In his remarks earlier, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) the Nigerian army 8th division, Major General Stevenson Olabanji said the Brigade, which has full capacity to confront any kind of battle had not come at a better time than now considering the insecurity
situation that surrounds the state.
He explained that the establishment of the Brigade will help in no small measure in bringing to an end, criminal activities in the state and by extension, its neighbours.
