Archbishop laments misery in Imo, Nigeria

The Catholic Archbishop of Owerri, Most Revd Anthony Obinna has lamented over what he described as the continuous terrible anxiety, misery, and groaning that pervade Imo State and Nigeria as a whole.

The cleric made the disclosure in his 2018 Christmas message made available to newsmen in Owerri, the Imo State capital.

According to him, the State and nation has continued to be lands of terrible anxiety, misery, and groaning as Israel of old, saying oppression and tyrannical leadership abounds.

He said as the 2019 election approaches, it confronts Nigerians with electing new citizens to govern the nation at various levels, he prayed for corporate and personal transformation in Jesus Christ.

Archbishop Obinna prayed that the nation shares in Jesus’s saving mission, rejoice in him as it brings freedom to the oppressed and to the enslaved in the nation.

Further, he prayed that the nation courageously govern or serve in low and high places sharing whatever is entrusted with a spirit of justice, compassion and peace, resisting intimidation and tyranny from any person and every quarter.

According to him, the excitement and joy associated with the birth of Jesus Christ abounds with the help of social media, as colourful and vibrant photographs depicts Christmas in varied cultural style.
