The Nigerian Air Force yesterday announced the demise of the former Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Sabundu Badeh.
He died yesterday from gunshot wounds sustained when his vehicle was attacked while returning from his farm along Abuja-Keffi federal highway.
Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, Director of Public Relations and Information of the Nigerian Air Force, did not give details regarding his death.
A terse statement he issued late yesterday night only stated: “On behalf officers, airmen and airwomen of the Nigerian Air Force, the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, commiserates with the family of the late former Chief of Defence Staff over this irreparable loss. We pray that the Almighty God grants his soul eternal rest”.
However, our correspondent gathered that Badeh was assassinated by hoodlums who had reportedly trailed him to his farm but caught up with him along the highway.
It was further gathered that the Abuja-Keffi-Akwanga federal highway has become a jungle of sorts in recent times due to the nefarious activity of criminals who daily rob, kidnap and maim people along the road.
