Stakeholders set to decorate Atiku as ‘Pillar of Nollywood’ Nigeria

February 5th, 2019

Stakeholders in Nigeria’s motion picture industry, Nollywood, are currently at advanced stage of preparation for the decoration and conferment of the Pillar of Nollywood on the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

The honour, which is coming under the platform of the Friends of Nollywood Awards, is coming few days to the 2019 presidential election and is expected to be grand.

The above was revealed by the chairman of the organizing committee, Nzeh Frankwhite, after a strategic session with some guild heads and other Nollywood stakeholders in Abuja. Nzeh, a seasoned movie maker and renowned media personality, while speaking to some journalists after the meeting, confirmed the information and also revealed that about 200 celebrities are billed to storm the Federal Capital Territory of Abuja for this all important decoration.

In his words, “My committee is putting finishing touches to the planned decoration of His Excellency Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, this is in recognition of his numerous contributions towards the growth and progress of the industry over the years, both as a private business man and as a government functionary. Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, possess the vision to take this all important industry to the most required greater height.

In the last 3 years plus, Nollywood has existed as if it was not part of the Nigerian calculations, without any government impact to propel the achievements of the last administration of Goodluck Jonathan, for a greater Nollywood.

To this end, relevant stakeholders in the industry has decided to give honour to whom honour is due, by decorating His Excellency with this all important honor in recognition and appreciation of his past support, while anticipating much more greater support by the time he is sworn in as president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

A 2016 study, revealed that Nollywood generates at least $590 million annually and was recorded as the 2nd highest employer of labour, in Nigeria, for any government to overlook this all important industry, is in my view, an unforgivable oversight.

It is instructive to note that the Friends of Nollywood Awards has had 3 former presidents of Nigeria as past recipients, (Former Presidents, Olusegun Obasanjo, Late Shehu Musa Yar’adua, and former president Goodluck Jonathan). Alhaji Atiku Abubakar is set to be accorded the highest category on the platform, as Pillar of Nollywood Nigeria”

Concludes the ebullient movie maker and media personality of note
